Word Wednesday - SURVEY

Every work place has their very own work language. This can create frustration when trying to complete a project when questions arise and the company answers using their own work language without a translator provided. Word Wednesday will give a little insight into the language of land surveying.

Survey

Sounds like a simple word. How could that be confusing?

Life comes with many adventures whether that be buying a new home or keeping your neighbors out of your backyard. At some point, requesting service from a land surveyor will be required. When ordering a survey, there are several different types of surveys available such as:

  • Boundary Surveys
  • Topographic Surveys
  • As-Constructed Surveys
  • Subdivision Surveys

That seems simple enough, right?

Let’s say you are embarking on the exciting adventure of purchasing a new home. Before you seal the deal, request a boundary survey to be completed. This will accurately provide the property lines for you to build your mansion without embarking onto your neighbor’s property.

Boundary Surveys - survey for the express purpose of locating the exact boundaries and corners of a given parcel of land.

When calling a land surveyor, it’s important to remember that they are the experts in this field. They can help determine the correct survey you need if you are not sure.
